Left atrium is in the postrior aspect of the left ventricle but our common recognition is the left atrium above the left ventricle. Superior wall of the left atrium at the anatomical position (the wall around the transverse pericardial sinus) is often described as anterior wall of the left atrium. This is fine because the anterior wall is not present but it is the mitral valve in the anatomical position. Inferior wall in the anatomical position is the posterior wall in our common sense description. Posterior wall in the anatomical position is the pulmonary venous compartment, which is often describes as the superior or roof of left atrium.
My suggestion is to describe the posterior wall in the anatomical position as the pulmonary venous conponent. The uppermost poart of the pulmonary venous component is the roof as is used in our term "the roof line". Similarly we can describe more precisely as antero-superior part of the vestibule of left atrium for atrial wall surrounding the transverse pericardial sinus. The convex side of the vestibule of the left atrium consists of the left lateral part and inferior part of the vestibule of the left atrium.
